There are two parts to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). The first part is a Health Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), a health insurance plan with a High Deductible.   The document under the magnifying glass is comparison of benefits of offerings from the top health insurers.  The second part is the savings account and you can find information about these on the HSA Banks link.
 
This is not the insurance contract and only the actual Certificate of Coverage provisions will apply. The Certificate sets forth, in detail, the limitations and exclustions. If there are any conflicts between the terms of the Certificate of Coverage and the informaion here, the terms of the Certificate of Coverage will prevail. The purpose of this document is to allow a reasonable comparison of benefits of the High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP) offered by the major HSA providers. 
 
 
All of the compared plans have no limit on the room or surgical procedures (other than the lifetime maximum) and there is no referral needed to see a specialist.  Family plans double the deductible of the Indivdual plans.  If office visits are covered, it is after the deductible has been met. All of the plans have rates for participating and non-participating providers. To ease in the comparison, this survey only considers participating provider services.

There is a lot of information about the HDHPs that has not been covered, but some noteworthy considerations follow:

 

Texas Aetna Advantage Plan Options
Aetna offers three High Deductible Health Plans that are HSA compatible plans: HSA Deductibe PPO 1 ($2750 Deductible), HSA Deductibe PPO 2 ($5000 Deductible), and Preventive and Hospital Care 3000.  The High Deductible PPO 1 and the Preventive and Hospital Care 3000 have coinsurance. so the individual out of pocket maximums are $5000 for individuals and $10000 for families. The High Deductible PPO 2 pays 100% of prescriptions after the deductible has been met, while the High Deductible PPO 1 has Copays for prescription drugs, after the deductible has been met.

Blue Cross/ Blue Shield of Texas
BCBS offers several High Deductible Health Plans with no coinsurance.  The plans have a copay on prescription drugs after the deductible has been met.

Humana One Texas
Humans offers two series of HDHPs. The first series is the Autograph Total/HSA, with no coinsurance. The second series is the Autograph Share 80/HSA, which has 20% coinsurance.


Unicare
Unicare offers two families of HDHPs. There is the High-Deductible plans, with and without coinsurance, and there is Solaura, which has three series of plans. All of the Solaura plans offer 100% of preventive care services. Option 1 (HSA) is funded like other HSA plans. Option 2 (HIA) is funded entirely through reward credits you can earn for healthy behaviors. Option 3 (HIA Plus) is funded by quarterly contributions from Unicare.
 
Celtic
CelticSaver has the most numerous selection of High Deductible Health Plans with different levels of coinsurance.

 

United Healthcare
United Healthcare offers HSA 100 and HSA Saver, with an aggregate deductible.  This means that the qualified medical expenses of every family member on the policy go towards the deductible.  United Healthcare also offers an optional hospital indemnity rider to help with expenses below the deductible.
